With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 lurking at bottom of the table, newly appointed manager Thorsten Fink has vowed to attain new heights with the club. The fallen giants of German football are currently struggling in 18th spot on the table.
Hamburg recently parted ways with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cardoso-c8316 was appointed as the interim manager. According to DFB rules, an interim manager can’t stand in for more than two weeks, which is why the sporting director Frank Arnesen was entrusted
with the managerial role.
Just days after his appointment, the Red Shorts have announced the arrival of Thorsten Fink as the Hamburg manager until 2014.
The former FC Basel manager mentioned that his side will definitely climb out of the bottom three places in the coming days. He expressed confidence in his team’s abilities and assured the officials of better results compared to the past.
Oenning’s successor believes that it’s only a matter of one game that will certainly change fortunes of the Red Shorts. He admitted of tough campaign ahead but is confident of staying amongst the big boys at the end of 2011/12 season.
While talking to the club’s official website, the 43-year-old enthused, "I don't feel any extra pressure to steer Hamburg away from the drop zone. There's always pressure to perform. It's a challenge for me to live up to the expectations.”
Further telling about his plans, Fink stated:
"Our first goal is to leave the relegation places. We have to move away from the drop zone as soon as possible. Avoiding the drop is not our long term ambition though. We owe it to the city and to the fans to do better. The club has so much potential and
it should be our aim to win every game."
Thorsten has previously managed the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 and Red Bull Salzburg. With the Swiss outfit, he managed to win the Swiss Cup title in 2009/10 and achieved a Uhrencup victory in 2011.
The ambitious manager will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 in his first assignment with the new club on Sunday, October 16.
