My horse arrived today, and was not suprisingly a little nervous and frantic - however her poo didn't seem normal, it was quite runny.. I was just wondering if this was normal because she was nervous and everything was changing.

She was vetted on thursday so she is healthy..

  1. She is probably freaked out being in a new place.  I always leave mine alone till they get to use to their new surroundings, its less stressful for them.  I just pet them or just sit with them.  I have had then do what your did and i had one that didn't poo, that one freaked me out more.  She settled and all is well.

  2. Yes, it's normal, especially in a nervous, high-strung animal.  Let her settle in for about a week before getting too concerned.  It'll probably stop as she calms down.  If it doesn't, call your vet.

  3. Normal as apple pie, she will no doubt settle into her new home with some firm medow muffins to show for it

  4. its completely normal for a nervous horse to get watery stools. Doesnt your stomach get upset when you are nervous? My horses get like this every time they are trailered somewhere.

  5. Think of it this way:  You know that feeling you get when you know you're going to get in trouble for something and you're stomach starts to hurt and it feels like to you need to suddenly make a trip to the bathroom?  That's how she is feeling.  She's nervous and probably doesn't understand that this is her new home yet.  If you are afraid of getting in her stall, stand where she can see you.  Talk to her in a calm reassuring voice.  Maybe feed her a carrot or two, or an apple.  It's going to take her anywhere from 2 days to a week or more before she completely relaxes.  If she's reassured that nothing bad is going to happen to her, it should help her calm down and everything will be fine.

  6. Completly Normal but make sure that when you begin to feed her to SLOWLY introduce the feed you will be giving her along with her old feed, you cant suddenly change a horses diet, that will cause problems

  7. Hey! believe it or not my horse arrived today aswell and he had the same nervousness and runny poo.. just give her a few days to settle in before you do any heavy work on her and just keep an eye on her, make sure she has no extra reasons to be nervous or unsettled like no new horses to get used to all of a sudden because that can be quite unsetteling in a new place!! she should be grand again in no time!

  8. she is probably nervous, about being in a new home!!!  she should b okey dokey, just give it a few days, and then  if u r still scared, tell yahoo! answers, maybe we can keep trying to help u!!!
