  1. Did you get ice skates or just blades? If you only have ice skate blades then you are probably going to have to have them mounted on a pair of boots. Just make sure that until your skates are broken in (this means that your skates have been worn enough so that they aren't uncomfortable or too stiff anymore). You will probably need to take your skates to be sharpened at a pro shop before you can skate. I would suggest also making sure that they are a proper fit. You can go ahead and begin skating in them. Skate for short periods of time at first until you begin to break them in. Don't over do it, if your feet begin to hurt then stop skating then slowly make your time periods longer that you skate. Good luck!

  2. First off, you need to know if they are the right size. Second, you need to try to break them in a little more IF you find out they are the right size. I know that hockey skate sizes are different then shoe sizes, though I'm not sure for other ice skates. If anything hurts, try to skate it off a little, if that doesn't work, take them off. Try to do this for a few days, if it doesn't work then maybe they just aren't comfortable or are the right size.

  3. First you have to sharpen the blades on your skates. Maybe you might want to try walking around the house to break in your new skates. After you feel that you are ready to skate, go for it!

    Have fun!

  4. make sure to wear thin socks and possibly ankle pads. u have to sharpen the sk8s at a pro shop and try to break into the boots. 4 the boots, u should get a heat molding if the ankles are too hard

  5. sounds like you're talking about boots rather than blades... i wouldnt know about different blades, im still on my first pair and shall be for a long time yet.

boots however, do need to be broken in. this means they need time to adjust to the shape of your foot. you can do this a few different ways. heat moulding is one option and involves placing the skates in a special oven. DO NOT TRY THIS WITH A REGULAR OVEN!! it will dry out the leather and make it crack. go to a pro shop and have it done there.

then there's the traditional way, skating! they will probably hurt your feet at first and it may take a while to get used to the toe picks on the blades. make sure to bring plasters and wear thin socks or tights. follow the instructions you got with your skates very carefully.

    good luck and happy skating!
