New Jersey Devils, Los Angeles Kings set to take Game 3 of Stanley Cup Finals -NHL Playoffs Preview
With a 2-0 lead in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals series, Los Angeles Kings are more than confident at the prospect of eliminating New Jersey in four straight games, but Devils will also be prepared come Game 3 at the STAPLES Center
in Los Angeles, California.
Game 1 was disappointing in all aspects for New Jersey but they played much better in the next contest. Devils have been known to make late comebacks as they did against New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
"It takes four games to win a series, not two, not three, not one," Devils’ veteran forward, Ilya Kovalchuk, said. "They were good enough to win the first two, but we'll see what is going to happen in the next couple of games."
Taking Devils to Los Angeles now for the next two games, which could potentially be their last, Kings are confident that the home-ice advantage will help them in playing even better.
"I still think it was better to get them home," Kings’ coach, Darryl Sutter, said Sunday. "Most of the guys get a couple hours sleep on the plane. A lot of the guys didn't have to come in today. They get up mid-morning, good to go, I think."
Drew Doughty, Kings top defenseman, stepped up his game in the second matchup of the finals, giving Los Angeles something to look forward to in the upcoming contests while New Jersey is still hoping for a miracle offensive outburst to give them the win.
Devils were limited to just two goals in the first two contests while Kings have four. New Jersey will need to step up their performance on the offensive side since there is just so much that veteran goalie, Martin Brodeur, can do in front of the net.
Los Angeles Kings are just two games away now from securing their first ever franchise Stanley Cup having their only opportunity since 1993 from when Wayne Gretzky was on the team.
Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals is set to take-off on Monday, June 4, 2012, at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles at 8:00 PM ET.
