New Jersey Devils' Peter DeBoer not making changes, confident for Game 3 -NHL Playoffs Update
New Jersey Devils were definitely much better against Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals, but for head coach Peter DeBoer, that was not enough.
The coach termed his team’s efforts not good enough and needing to be better if they hope to take down Kings in Los Angeles for Game 3, but that does not mean he will be making some changes.
DeBoer hopes to win with the same line-up and strategy at the STAPLES Center after losing the first two at home in Newark. It will definitely be a challenge as Kings seem to be more confident than ever, but so is DeBoer.
"We're not making a change based on the hole we're in," DeBoer said after their second loss. "We'll make a change if we feel there's someone that can make us a better lineup for tomorrow night. That's what we're making the decision on. Like I said, I thought
our group played a good game last night."
According to analysts, Devils should try something new for Game 3 as they have many healthy scratches ready to go and able to contribute in pressurised situations. Martin Brodeur, Devils’ veteran goalie, has proved to be an asset with his continuity in performing
beyond expectations in the finals, but it is the offensive side that is lacking at the moment.
"We look at every option after every game, win or lose," DeBoer said. "We want to put the best lineup on the ice. All those guys are a consideration after every game."
Players like Henrik Tallinder, Adam Larsson and Petr Sykora are available to be played and just might be the miracle players that New Jersey needs at the moment, but DeBoer is not willing to take any risks and manipulate the team chemistry.
Unfortunately, all players that are sidelined at the moment have not received any confirmation from the coach’s side whether they will be needed in the next game or not.
It is highly likely that if New Jersey Devils face another loss on Monday, June 4, 2012, Peter DeBoer will have no option left but to put into play his backups.
