New Jersey Devils Adam Henrique looking forward to leading in minor leagues during Lockout -NHL Update
Adam Henrique has always been one of those players that work hard to achieve and not look for the easy way out and seeing how he has made himself a regular with a team like the New Jersey Devils, there is no way anyone can doubt his ability and determination
to succeed.
The former 82nd overall draft pick of the New Jersey Devils back in round-three of the 2008 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft got to play his first game with the major league club during the 2010-2011 regular season, and only one it was.
The remaining portion of the season was spent with their affiliates in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Albany Devils, and now, as the lockout persists in the NHL, he looks forward to showing off his new set of skills.
The native of Brantford, Ontario, Canada, proved to the New Jersey Devils why they always vested their faith in him as Adam Henrique really came out strong in the 2011-2012 NHL regular season by potting 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists) in 74 games along
with being a life saver for them when it came to really perform, in the playoffs. He was a major reason why the Devils made the finals this year as the youngster potted 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) in 24 games played and ended with an impressive plus rating
of 12.
"A few years down the road I want to be in the position that Zach Parise is in -- that's how I look at it," Henrique told NHL.com after playing in an American Hockey League preseason game for the Albany Devils. "Hopefully a few years down the road, some
kid will be sitting in my spot and I'll be teaching him things."
He might not have that overconfident feeling like many players have when returning to the minor leagues, but Adam Henrique is without a doubt, one of the best.
"I've never set specific numbers for myself. I want to play the right way every night, consistent and for the team," Henrique added. "If we're winning and I'm not putting up the points, but I'm playing the right way, that's good and I'm comfortable with
that."
