New Jersey Devils Zach Parise confident and optimistic as usual -NHL Playoffs Update
Not seeing New Jersey Devils’ captain, Zach Parise, talking to the media after the Saturday night, May 19, 2012, matchup against New York Rangers was certainly shocking because the player never misses an opportunity to get in front of the camera and talk
his heart out.
Talking to the media after practice on the following day, Sunday, Parise termed his decision to be a wise one since New Jersey and all the players, including him, were disappointed at how they lost Game 3 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley
Cup Eastern Conference Playoff Finals at home, giving New York a 2-1 lead.
"I probably would have said some things I would have regretted. I was just upset about how the game went," Parise said.
Parise was definitely frustrated since the team came out in Game 2 to level the series and thought that they had found a way to win against New York, but Game 3 proved to be the exact opposite.
"We controlled a lot of the game and a lot of the play (in Game 3); we just didn't execute when we had the chances and that was it," Parise said. "That was really what the game came down to. I think that was the difference. It was the same thing in the first
game, too. But, we're playing well, we're playing very well. We just gotta capitalize."
Parise is a major player for New Jersey, being not only the captain, he is one of their best players to get things done when needed the most. In 15 playoff games so far, Parise has potted nine points (4 goals, 5 assists).
Ilya Kovalchuk praised the captain after the loss and described him as being the best on the squad, not only as a player, but as an individual as well.
“He’s a great captain and he’s our leader. I’m pretty sure you guys know him as a great human being and great leader and sportsman,” Kovalchuk said.
Game 4 is scheduled for Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. It could be the game in which Zach Parise definitely shines and gets NJ back into the series.
