New Jersey Devils aim to rebound in Game 2 against New York Rangers -NHL Playoffs Preview
New Jersey is accustomed to bouncing back after a deficit in the series as spectators witnessed in the quarterfinals against Florida Panthers. Game 2 will definitely bring many surprises as Devils aim to level the competition against New York Rangers after
a Game 1 shutout.
Rangers came out extremely strong in the opening matchup of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Playoff Finals as they downed New Jersey Devils, 3-0. New York proved that they were not a tired team, like many analysts pointed
out, after having just one day to rest between eliminating Washington Capitals in Game 7 and playing Devils in the conference finals.
"I don't know where you guys get all this stuff being tired," Rangers’ coach, John Tortorella, said. "If we're tired this time of the year, there's something the matter. We still have a month to play. You might as well not even ask me questions about being
tired. We're not a tired hockey club. We are ready to play."
Devils know they have been in this sort of situation before and going down in Game 1 on the road is not anything they should really worry about. That is why the team decided to skip practice in the day off and rather meet and discuss what was needed.
"I don't think so. You're down one game and they have home-ice advantage," Devils’ coach, Peter DeBoer, said. "We've been in this spot before. We know we can play better. And credit to them. They got the job done; found a way to get a win.”
Getting New Jersey Devils down 2-0 after Game 2 will definitely be an advantage for the New York Rangers, but underestimating the opposition when the series goes to Newark, New Jersey, would be a fatal mistake.
The battle continues to be between Henrik Lundqvist of New York and Martin Broduer of New Jersey as the goalies from twin cities fight it out for Eastern Conference supremacy.
Game 2 will definitely be exciting. It is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
