New Jersey Devils' UFA Zach Parise still uncertain about where to sign -NHL offseason Update
Times are not easy for New Jersey Devils’ unrestricted free agent, Zach Parise, who talking with reporters on Monday, July 2, 2012, said that he is still uncertain about where to sign for the upcoming 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
The player was unable to give a specific date about his signing, but as the days go by and the free agency continues to roll, his chances of staying with New Jersey Devils seem to slim down.
"I'm getting closer but haven't made a decision. I haven't set any deadlines," Parise said in Toronto.
A number of teams are reportedly going after the young forward with everything they have got and it seems that the Minnesota Wild came extremely close to signing the deal, but needing some time to finalise his decision, Parise stuck with taking it slow.
"We have thoroughly deliberated every option with Zach," Wade Arnott, Parise's agent, wrote in an e-mail to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "He wishes to take some time to step back and review all with his fiance and his family. We could be drawing closer to a decision."
"It's such a long-term, important decision, you have to make sure you look at everything," Parise added while talking to reporters.
Due to a number of situations that the New Jersey franchise is facing at the moment, especially their financial crisis, it seems like Zach Parise will no longer be a Devil for the upcoming season and beyond.
The 27-year-old was on a one-year contract with New Jersey Devils for this past season, which had a worth of $6 million, but they failed to lock him up for anything longer due to the monetary mess they're currently facing.
Parise will definitely be demanding a long term deal with the team he finally decides to sign on with as Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild are carrying around their check books, just waiting for the player to seal the deal.
The New Jersey Devils’ captain is without a doubt one of the hottest players in the free agency at the moment. Leading his team to the Stanley Cup Finals this year, Parise continues to prove that he is one of the best.
