New Jersey Devils’ captain Zach Parise hopeful of Eastern Conference title win-NHL News
It was a long, seven-year wait and New Jersey Devils’ left wing, Zach Parise, has no regrets to be through to the period leading up to the painfully late arrival of an opportunity of playing into National Hockey League (NHL) conference finals.
Devils have made it to the Eastern Conference finals and it is the first ever opportunity for Parise to play in the finals. The 27-year old player is apparently excited about the prospects of playing for the conference title.
He said:
"This feels really good. I don't think there are too many people out there that expected us to be where we are right now.”
He added:
“We always thought we could make it here, but you have to have things go right for you and you have to be lucky at the right times and [on Tuesday], we got a lucky bounce on [David Clarkson's] goal, so it was a good sign."
The Devils were through to the finals after beating the Philadelphia Flyers in the seven-game semi-final series. Their place was confirmed by the 3-1 victory over Flyers on Tuesday, May 08, 2012.
Some of Parise’s colleagues, who already have win of the Stanley Cup on their resumes, have congratulated their captain and said it was a well-deserved achievement for him.
Netminder, Martin Brodeur, who is one of them said:
"I think Zach has been playing really good, taking leadership to heart and he's happy to be the captain and happy to lead."
Brodeur admitted that the captain had a tough run through past half a decade, while waiting for arrival of the opportunity and noted with praise that he did not let the disappointment affect his form during all those years.
Parise himself has said that he did not take much notice of the long time he had to wait for the day to arrive, apparently immersing himself quickly into the mood of celebrations and fun prevailed at the team’s headquarters following confirmation of their
berth into the finals.
Furthermore, he said to be focused on the finals, hoping that the team wins. Other team members are also hopeful of the team’s success under his leadership.
