New Jersey Devils confident, looking forward to Game 5 at Prudential Center -NHL Stanley Cup Finals
After spoiling the Los Angeles Kings predicted Stanley Cup celebration in Game 4 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals this past Wednesday, June 6, 2012, New Jersey Devils finally seem to have found that much needed spark and feel confident
heading back home.
Game 5 is set to start on Saturday at the Prudential Center back in Newark, New Jersey, which has the Devils thrilled and more confident than ever with their top scorers finally beginning to rise to the occasion and lead the team.
"We're playing fine. It's just the pucks not going in. But I think we're playing fine. I don't think we need to change anything about what we're doing," Devils’ captain, Zach Parise, said. "We're working hard, we're doing a decent job at spending time in
the offensive zone. We just need to score -- then we don't have this conversation."
Veteran New Jersey goalie, Martin Brodeur, also stepped up his game and outplayed his younger counterpart in the Kings’ net, Jonathan Quick, which was a first in this series. Quick had otherwise outright dominated throughout the whole series but seeing Martin
Brodeur come out strong by letting through just one goal while Devils’ forwards potted three was certainly a confidence booster.
Even Devils head coach, Peter DeBoer, is excited to play Game 5 and believes that if they win, the situation will take a whole different turn.
"I know it's a cliché, but I think if we win Saturday night, this series really takes a turn," coach, Peter DeBoer, said. "You've still got a pulse, you're still alive. The alternative is you're going home for the summer. There is some life. These guys enjoy
being around each other.”
If New Jersey Devils are able to come back and win the next three games straight to take the Stanley Cup, which is highly unlikely according to previous Stanley Cup history, they would not be only making history but also destroy the Kings morale in every
way possible.
Game 5 will definitely be exciting, especially if New Jersey Devils manage to keep themselves alive in the series.
