New Jersey Devils defenseman Adam Larsson rues rushing back from injury - NHL News
New Jersey Devils rookie defenseman, Adam Larsson, came back from a crunching back injury after 10-games but has not performed at his normal level since his return. In an interview on Sunday, the 19-year-old said that his rushed return may have been a factor
for his dipping form.
Larsson was injured badly after taking a big hit from Montreal Canadiens forward, P.K Subban, on February 2, 2012 and the subsequent damage to his back forced Larsson to miss out on the Devils next 10-games.
Talking to The Star-Ledger the rookie said that rushing back from his injury was not such a good idea after all.
"My game's been up and down, I think. The last few games it's been pretty good, but it was pretty tough for me. I wasn't in the best shape when I came back. I probably came back too quick after my injury."
The 19-year-old has just one-assist since returning and feels that he has hurt the Devils more by his decision.
Luckily for Larsson though the Devils have performed admirably overall and are winning games. They are currently on a four-game winning run and are playing with great confidence.
The defenseman though says that he is feeling better and there is no more pain in his back.
“Not at all. That's a good sign,"
Adding further he said.
"It's pretty tough to prepare yourself for a schedule like this. I've never gone through this. I will have more ups and downs even this month. It's a tough month for everybody, but the team is playing so good now I'm very happy to be a part of it."
The Devils are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 40-24-5 record and 85 points and will be looking to build on their winning run to move further up the table.
Goaltender, Martin Brodeur, has been in exceptional form for New Jersey as the team stopped their opponents from scoring more than a single goal throughout their winning run.
Larsson will be hoping that his form picks up going into the business end of the season to help the Devils to continue to win.
The rookie has had a great season still with two-goals and 15 assists for the season and has come up to every expectation of the franchise.
