New Jersey Devils expect Jacob Josefson to return in Game 4 against New York Rangers -NHL Update
Jacob Josefson had a tough time this past 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season as he missed 37 games due to a broken clavicle and had to go out again on April 3, 2012, due to a fractured left wrist.
After all those injuries and plenty of time to recover, the 21-year-old New Jersey Devils’ centre player just might be making a comeback on the squad in Game 4 of the 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Playoff Finals against New York Rangers.
New Jersey can definitely use all the firepower they can get going up against a team like New York Rangers, and Josefson hopes to be the answer to their offensive woes that has somewhat troubled them so far.
"He's a skilled guy," Devils’ Travis Zajac told NHL.com. "He makes good plays. He's good at both ends of the ice. He's a smart player, sees the ice well. He's going to definitely help us. He was finding his stride and it's unfortunate that he had some injuries
to deal with, but it's going to make him stronger. He's excited and ready to come back.
In order to accommodate Josefson, New Jersey Devils’ head coach, Peter DeBoer, is reported to have make Petr Sykora, who played all 82 regular season and 15 postseason games up until now, a healthy scratch.
Sykora definitely does not mind making room for his teammate and hopes to return when needed to play again in the playoffs.
“Of course I’m proud of it," Sykora said of his consistency. "It’s not an easy league. It’s a tough league to play in, but that doesn’t mean anything right now. It looks like I’m out. I’ll stay in shape and wait for a chance. It’s kind of fresh to me right
now. I haven’t had time to think about it.”
In the 41 games that Josefson did play, the Stockholm, Sweden native, potted nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) and finished with an impressive plus 10 rating at the end before going out with the injury.
There has been no official confirmation about Jacob Josefson playing in Game 4 on Monday, May 21, 2012, but according to the reports, there is a high possibility.
