New Jersey Devils feel for injured defenseman Jacob Josefson - NHL News
The New Jersey Devils have offered their respective consolatory remarks for their injured centre, Jacob Josefson, who has missed most part of the current season with respective injury problems.
As of the latest, the management has confirmed the player to be out with a broken wrist for more than a month, with chances of his comeback in later part of the playoffs.
Devils have guaranteed their berth into the playoffs this season and confirmed the player’s injury will not affect them much in the regular season, with only a couple of games left to its closing.
However, they might feel his absence in the initial period of the playoffs, and if he is unable to recover within four to six weeks, the current season’s run may well be over for him.
The Devils hope that is not going to be the case that the player misses the game for more than six weeks and are hopeful of his return sooner than expected.
At the same time, his teammates have expressed their feelings over the repeated injury scares of the player, who is going to sit out of the squad second time this year.
Earlier, he had missed consecutive 37 games with a collarbone injury and now the broken wrist is ousting him for quite few more games, and possibly costing him the entire season.
Devils’ netminder, Johan Hedberg, while offering his sympathies for the player, said:
"Everybody in the room really feels for Jake. He's been through so much these two years with injuries and every time he is getting his groove and things are going well for him, and it looks like he is really to take the next step, some unfortunate injury
happens."
He hopes that the player is able to recover sooner enough to play a few games this season, which will certainly be a boost to his health and fitness.
The defenseman is among the top few NHL players who have been affected by the injuries for most part of the season.
This includes Pittsburgh Penguins’ centre, Sidney Crosby, who has missed 102 games due to a concussion problem in last two seasons.
It is to recall here that Josefson was injured in their game against the New York Islanders on Tuesday, April 03, 2012. The game was won by Devils with three to one (3-1) goals margin.
He played the game throughout except for the third period. His injury was not reported to be a broken wrist initially, but later scans results proved it to be so.
Devils’ management confirmed after the game the player’s injury to be a broken wrist and said that he will need four to six weeks for recovery and rehabilitation.
