New Jersey Devils’ goaltender Martin Brodeur aims for uninterrupted playoff opportunities-NHL News
New Jersey Devils’ goaltender, Martin Brodeur, remains hopeful of winning an opportunity to protect the team’s net in the game against the Florida Panthers on Thursday, April 19, 2012.
Apparently, the player said to be ready for Panthers challenge and it remains to be the matter of a call from his coach, Pete DeBoer, for game 4 of the Eastern Conference playoff quarterfinal series.
Brodeur, a three-time Stanley Cup winner, remains aware of the significance of his presence in front of Devils’ net and it is only a matter of time that he proves his worth once again.
The player said:
"I expect to play every game all the time, especially in the playoffs. It might not happen the rest of my career. But right now, until I don't play, I expect every day I will play.”
The netminder took part in the team’s drill on Wednesday and following the workout commented on his performance, which he sees to be at the same level it was before the current playoff series.
He said:
"Being a goalie, it's a mental game more than any other position. That's part of being who I am or what a goaltender has to go through over and over. When you go back in there, it's in your head. You just have to get your feet wet again and go at it. It's
a game. I know how to play it. There are days I play well.”
It was rather disappointing performance from Brodeur in Devils’ 4-3 loss against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. However, the team is aware that he is well capable of bouncing back any time.
A win in the next game is going to be crucial for Devils to help them level the scorecard with two wins each for them and Panthers.
Panthers are in the lead with two wins and one loss (2-1) at the moment and another win on Thursday will help them consolidate it to be 3-1 on points table.
Devils remain confident of a win in the next game and the participation of players like Brodeur will be crucial to their win chances.
