New Jersey Devils play host to the Ottawa Senators in the third meeting between the two sides during the course of the season
The first game of Tuesday will be hosted by the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center as they square off against the struggling Ottawa Senators.
This will be the third meeting between the two sides during the course of the season out of the four due meetings.
The Senators won the first game 3-2 but the Devils managed bounced back with an emphatic 2-1 win last time out on the 1st of February when they piled up eight consecutive wins.
Devils had a dreadful start to the season which saw them with the worries of finishing in the worse ever position during the course of the long history. However, they came up with some brilliant performances.
During the course of these, the Devils are within one game of the 0.500 and they have notched up 12 victories out of the 13 games they have played.
Currently, if we talk about their performances in the last 24 games then they have won 20 games in regulation time, scored a point in two and lost two.
The Devils are trailing the final play-off positioned Buffalo Sabres by eight points in the Eastern Conference.
Devils have received a lot of boost from the returning goalkeeper Martin Brodeur who has come up with 85 saves out of the 90 shots fired on his goal during the last four games.
The Devils have seen performances from each and every player on ice whether it be the goal keeper of the midfield or the frontline. Brian Rolston and Ilya Kovalchuk have both been in superb touch in the last few games.
Not only did the Devils win the game 2-1 against the New York Islanders but they dominated the game when it comes to possession.
Kovalchuk had an assist during the game and has scored at least a point in 15 out of the last 16 games. He leads his team with 24 goals and a total of 48 points.
The Devils have played 65 games so far during the season out of which they have won 30 games in regulation time, four games in overtime to score a total of 64 points. On the other hand, the Senators have played 65 games as well out of which they have won
22 games regulation time, nine games in overtime scoring a total of 53 points.
This will be the first game on a four games road trip for the Senators. They are not in the best of the shapes as they are in the last spot in the Eastern Conference and lost their last game against the New York Rangers 4-1 this past Friday.
The loss against the Rangers was the seventh consecutive start of the goal keeper ever since coming here. He has won four games and lost three.
"I think there's still some guys' names I'm not too sure of," said Anderson. "Sometimes I call the wrong name out on the ice, but I think they get the general idea when they hear a screaming voice back there that they're about to get hit."
