New Jersey Devils play hosts to Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth and final meeting between them
The first game of Tuesday will be hosted by New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center as the home team plays host to Atlanta Thrashers.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have already taken place between the two teams, Thrashers won the first with an impressive 7-1 score line.
However, Devils bounced back and came up with two wins in the last two games out which they won the most recent game by 3-2 in overtime with Travis Zajac scoring the winning goal.
Devils made a poor start to the season but now are in hot form stringing up wins. They have stacked up wins every now and then and managed to win eight games in a row recently. They have continued with the dominating performances which have seen them winning
their last two games and leave them just eight points behind New York Rangers who occupy the final position in the playoffs.
Thrashers, on the other hand, have been also brilliant as they have emerged as winners in three out of their last four games.
They are just six points behind Rangers as they have 13 games left to play. Thing would definitely heat up with both teams looking to close the gap on the final position and on the same looking to move ahead of the teams behind them.
Scoring has been a problem for Devils as they have been involved in nine straight games where only one goal has been scored. Amazingly they have won seven of these games.
Even though this might haunt them later but with this comes the fact that they haven’t allowed goals which has given their defence confidence as they face some of the big teams in the league during the season.
Devils are also on the road to breaking the record for scoring the most points during the second half of the season.
They have currently scored 46 points and still have 14 games remaining. Red Wings hold the record with 70 points during the second part whereas Devils can score 74 points.
Devils have played 68 games during the season out of which they have won 32 games in regulation time and four games in overtime to score a total of 68 points.
Thrashers have played 69 games during the course of the season out of which they won 29 games in regulation and 12 games in overtime to score a total of 70 points.
Thrashers are going through some tough times during the season which have seen them winning five games in regulation time out of their last 20 games.
However, they need to win games if they need to make their way into the playoff cut.
