New Jersey Devils ship Adam Henrique, Adam Larsson to AHL -NHL Update
New Jersey Devils shipped off a pair of their most talented youngsters, Adam Henrique and Adam Larsson, to their minor league affiliates in the American Hockey League (AHL) due to a looming lockout on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
Henrique is definitely one of the most well known players in the youngster group as he was a Calder Trophy finalist and certainly went beyond all expectations after he was picked up as the 82nd overall back in round-three of the 2008 National
Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft by New Jersey Devils.
In the two seasons he has spent with the New Jersey Devils up until now, Henrique has 75 games played under his belt for 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists) and seven minutes in the penalty box.
Coming out of 2010-2011 in which he spent just one game with New Jersey and a majority with the Albany Devils and potting 51 points the following year was just amazing in every sense of the word.
Adam Larsson was the next on the list with a number of other youngsters, though not as prominent, but equally as important since after losing captain Zach Parise over the offseason to the Minnesota Wild, keeping the remaining part of the club together is
top priority for Devils at this moment.
Larsson is a fourth overall pick of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and achieved the 18 point mark (2 goals, 16 assists) in 65 games played this past season and also was a part of their run for the Stanley Cup Finals this time around.
Jean-Sebastian Berube, Brandon Burlon, Maxime Clermont, Eric Gelinas, Mike Hoeffel, Jacob Josefon and a number of other prospects are also on the list of players being shipped off to the Albany Devils in the AHL.
Three more players, including Stefan Matteau of the 2012 Entry Draft, was also handed back to their minor league teams.
According to a deal recently signed by the NHL and other leagues around the nation and world, they will be able to recall their players if a season comes into play and the league and Players’ Association reaches a deal sooner or later.
