New Jersey Devils win eighth game in a row beating the Dallas Stars 1-0

The Dallas Stars hosted the New Jersey Devils in the 900th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series at the American Airlines Arena. The game was very important for both teams with the Stars looking to end their four games losing streak while
the Devils were looking to make in eight in a row.
With the play-off battle heating up, two points were very crucial for both teams. However, the game was evenly matched by the two sides as they battled out hard to emerge as winners. It wasn’t until the late in the final period that the Devils scored the
only goal of the game to win by a slender lead of 1-0 in the end. Nick Palmieri of the Devils scored the only goal of the game and was named the star selection as a result.
The period was totally defence dominated although the offence came up with quite a few attacks. The solid backline of the two teams cut down attacks regularly with the teams not even in the shooting positions.
After the middle part of the period, the Devils showed glimpses of brilliance but they couldn’t find the finishing that had enabled them to win the last seven games. The Stars also came up with a quite a brilliant performance. Despite the strong Devil’s
defence they were able to create chances for themselves.
However, the period ended with the scores level on 0-0. Things were pretty much even as the period ended with the Stars making 8 goal attempts while the Devils made 9 goal attempts.
The second period saw the defence of both teams tighten up things even further. The chances were rare and difficult and the teams not being able to score was understandable. Though some might say that both teams could have scored but the fact of the matter
is that the defence put a lot of pressure on the offence which saw them coming up with mistakes in crucial stages.
Both the teams were less in terms of goal attempts during the period with the Devils making 5 goal attempts while the Stars made 7 goal attempts. This resulted in the period ending goalless with the scores still deadlocked on 0-0.
The final period was expected to follow on the same roads as the previous periods. This is certainly what happened during the early part with the teams coming up with almost nothing.
However, the Devils were determined to win in regulation as two points were very important for their running in the play-offs. They were rewarded for their positive attitude as the Devils took the lead with Nick Palmiere scoring during power play in the
15th minute.
The Stars fired a few shots in the end but the scores didn’t change as the Devils won the game 1-0 in the end. The final 20 minutes saw the Devils making 4 goal attempts while the Devils made 9 goal attempts.
