New Jersey Devils wins 3-2 against New York Islanders despite being out of the playoff’s cut – NHL Updates
The Prudential Center saw New Jersey Devils hosting New York Islanders in one of the games on Wednesday which it won by 3-2. Both teams are out of the playoff’s cut and occupy the 12th and 13th positions in the Eastern Conference. However,
a win for either of the teams would be helpful for the teams to gain self confidence.
The game started off with Devils coming out strong which saw it scoring the lone goal of the period to get into the lead. Islanders also came up with a few shots on goal but it was unable to find the back of the net.
The period ended with Devils leading 1-0 but Islanders was strong at the start of the second period.
Devils got better with the passage of time and scored once again to double the lead.
Islanders was the stronger of the two teams at the start of the final period as it scored two goals to level the score.
However, Devils scored once again to get into the lead and win the game 3-2 in the end.
Andy Greene of Devils was named the star of the game as he scored the winning goal of the game.
The game started with Devils as the stronger of the two teams as it came up with some brilliant pieces of play. Devils was able to score in the fifth minute through Ilya Kovalchuk’s well placed flick shot to get into the lead.
Devils fired a couple of more shots on goal but it was unsuccessful in finding the back of the net.
Islanders made quite a few shots on goal as well but it was unable to score and the period ended with the Devils leading 1-0.
Devils made seven shots on goal during the period while Islanders made five.
The second 20 minutes of play began with both teams even better on the offence and once again Devils showed the productivity with a goal early in the fourth minute. The goal was scored by Jacob Josefson from a well placed flick shot.
The period saw both teams continuing on the attacking roads but like the first period, they were unable to score goals. The period came to an end with the Devils leading 2-0 as both teams made 10 shots on goal during the period.
The final period saw Islanders totally dominating the game in the offence and defence and scored in the 10th minute through Frans Nielsen’s decent backhand shot to trail by a single goal.
Islanders scored once again in the 14th minute through Nielsen once again to level the scores.
Devils was able to score a goal in the 16th minute through Andy Greene’s well placed flick shot to put Devils back into the lead and it won the game by 3-2 in the end.
