Question:

New Jersey Motorcycle License Question?

If you have a regular drivers license in New Jersey and are pursuing a motorcycle license, does the motorcycle license HAVE to be an endorsement on your existing license or can you get a seperate license altogether? Also, if you agree to have the endorsement, do you have to get a new license or is the endorsement more or less a technical thing that will show up if someone scans the ID?

  1. idk?

  2. Having a motorcycle license is an addition to your regular drivers license if you have one. It will be noted on your regular license with a code letter. In Ohio, Florida and Arkansas, they use the letter M on the back of the license. Some States have a single motorcycle license for drivers who do not have a regular license. When you take and pass the MC test, they will issue you a new drivers license with the endorsement on it. As a note, when you renew your license afterwards, make sure it is included on the new license. Sometimes the DMV worker will overlook it.
