New Jersey Nets rookie MarShon Brooks unfazed by the trade circus – NBA Regular News
With just two nights two days left in the March 15th trade deadline, the rumour mill is operating overtime. Among the block buster trades, one name that is being thrown is that of rookie MarShon Brooks.
Brooks will supposedly be inside any package that the New Jersey Nets will offer to get their hands on Dwight Howard. The Nets have been on a campaign to acquire Orlando Magic super star and the most suitable offering in return
at the moment is Brooks.
When asked about the possibility of being relocated so early in his career and whether he is worried at the prospect, Brook response was nonchalant;
“Should I be?”
The rookie shooting guard will be an irresistible offer for Orlando Magic, especially with his 14.0 points per game average. Significantly, the 23 years old recorded a career high 24 points against Orlando on February 22nd
and posted another impressive performance last Saturday against Houston Rockets. He tallied 23 points to go with a career high 7 assists. With these stats he can certainly be traded off to Magic in a package deal for Howard.
But the rookie thinks otherwise.
“I’ve never been that guy,” he added. “I just go out and play and do my job. I haven’t been doing the best, so I don’t need any extra on my mind.”
He has faced certain snags lately - a torn Achilles tendon and then from a broken pinkie toe. Consequently he had to miss 9 games and has started 23 of the 32 games for the Nets so far this season. Also his impact was nowhere to
be seen when Brook Lopez returned to the lineup after the All-Star game. Lopez netted 38 and 28 points respectively in those games and Brooks was reduced to only 9 attempted shots in those two games. Afterwards when Lopez sprained his ankle MarShon redeemed
his shooting touch as he tallied 62 points in 4 games.
The trade however is still a rumour and until something concretes comes up, the rookie will certainly have his finger crossed.
