New Jersey Nets star Anthony Morrow enjoying his time during NBA offseason
New Jersey Nets guard Anthony Morrow has been chilling out during the NBA offseason. The 6 ft-5 in player has spent much of his time in Atlanta, his hometown, but came back to Jersey recently for a charity event.
While many NBA players have been concerned because of the financial consequences of the lockout, Morrow has not been hankering after a move abroad and is more than happy to spend some quality time with his family.
In New Jersey, he attended the Labour Day Weekend celebrity game. The game was divided between Team Bieber and Team Ludacris, with teen pop star Justin Bieber and rapper Ludacris the protagonists.
Morrow played on Team Bieber and had a really good time. Later, he commented on how the game proved to be a good avenue for re-assembling the NBA players
"That was a lot of fun," Morrow said of the celebrity game — the annual LudaDay Game in Atlanta, while talking to The Star-Ledger. "KD (Kevin Durant) came out, Brandon Jennings, Chris Paul, 'Melo (Carmelo Anthony), CJ Watson, Chris Singleton, John Wall, I think Kemba (Walker) was there, Josh Selby and (rappers) Oochie Wally and Teyana Taylor."
Although there were some huge players on show like Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunder and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks, Morrow actually had a huge impact in deciding the game. With the scores really close down the stretch, Anthony hit some ice-cool 3-pointers that swung the momentum in the favour of team Bieber.
His exploits helped team Bieber edge the game with a narrow 134 – 132 margin and even earned him a shout out from the young singer on Twitter, as a result of which Anthony’s followers doubled on micro blogging site.
After he is done with the charity event in Jersey, Morrow plans to return back to Atlanta. Morrow added that it is easy to stay relaxed in Atlanta, where he can divide his time between family and work without much hassle.
"I can get a lot out of my trainers and out of my workouts here, and kind of utilize the time to spend with my family," he said. "I was 50-50 on it (going overseas) but when it came down to it, I just felt like I wanted to stay around."
