The New Jersey Nets snapped a two-game losing streak with a 98 - 96 win over the Portland Trail Blazers at Prudential Center, Newark. 11,448 basketball fans witnessed the home victory of the Nets who handed the Trail Blazers their third straight loss.
High – Flying Players
Five of the Nets’ players scored in double figures, including a team-high 25 points, consisting of a 3-pointer from Devin Harris with 1:11 left on the board as well as eight assists. Anthony 'A-Mo' Morrow followed him with 16 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds.
Brook Lopez contributed 13 points with 4 rebounds.
Wesley Matthews posted a team-high 25 points for Portland in the loss. Brandon Roy did all he could, scoring 21 points and LaMarcus Aldridge added 20, capped by 3 assists and 5 rebounds for Portland.
First Quarter
The Portland Trail Blazers had a good start as they scored 23 points led by eight points from Lopez , and led the Nets by three points ( 33-26). Lopez led the Trail Blazers with 8.
The Net's biggest lead of the quarter was five points. Aldridge of the Nets led all scorers with 9 points.
Second Quarter
The Nets curtailed the Trail Blazers to just 26 points in the second quarter, heading in to the half 52 - 44.
Roy scored seven of his 15 first half points in the final six minutes before the first half of the game.
Third Quarter
The Blazers were right back into the game and scored seven straight points in the opening stages of the third quarter, with Aldridge nailing two long jumpers, giving Portland its biggest lead at 62-50 with 8:48 left.
Devin Harris had a 27-foot jumper that tied the game again at 64 with 4:24 left in the third.
The Blazers limited the Nets to just 18 points in the third quarter and led 78 - 73 heading in to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Andre Miller then took charge of the Blazers, scoring six of his team's next eight points to give the Blazers a 74-69 lead with 01:42 to go.
The two teams then traded the lead back and forth before Harris' late 3-pointer gave the Nets the lead for good, 98 – 96.
