New Jersey Nets veteran Keith Bogans to miss out the entire 2011-2012 season - NBA Update
New Jersey Nets have already been having an injury plagued season and now they have recieved yet another major setback, one that is going to hurt them significantly.
Shooting guard Keith Bogans dislocated his left ankle and completely ruptured a ligament connecting the wrist with the other bones, on Wednesday night, in a  game against the Detroit Pistons and after detailed examination, it turns
out that he will be missing the entire season.
The incident happened in the deciding quarter of the game when Keith landed onto the ground awkwardly during an attempt to deny a jam by Pistons centre Greg Monroe. Bogans was clearly in a lot of pain after the impact and had to
be escorted to the bench by his team mates.
Upon further tests the next day, it turned outthat  the wrist was fractured.
Nets coach Avery Johnson, watched Bogans go down and immediately knew it was ugly. He was not completely shocked when the news of Bogans dislocating his wrist reached him.
"My reaction is it's really tough when we're screaming like 50 times, 'We don't want Monroe to go left. He's a left-handed player and he has two left hands.' We're screaming, 'We don't want him to go left,' but we still allow him
to go left and dunk on us," Johnson said. "And, as a result, Bogans gets tangled up inside and comes down wrong. It's just unfortunate that we didn't execute and defend somebody's individual strength, and Bogans gets hurt on the same play."
Bogans, who was selected by Orlando Magic in the 2003-04 NBA draft has played with a lot of teams in his 9 years career. In 2010-11 season, he represented Chicago Bulls but after a disappointing season, he was waived off.
On February 1st, he was acquired by the Nets, who were having trouble with injuries, and got him on board to add some strength to the backcourt.  In his 5 games stint with the team, Bogans averaged 4.2 points and 2.2
rebounds per game.
Now with him out for the remainder of the season, the Nets are only left with nine healthy players. Avery would need to employ all those players with caution because a few more injuries and the Nets would not have enough people
left to start the game with.
