  1. Hey. I'm a pianist as well. Glad to see other music enthusiasts around the world. So I am glad to try and help. I am now 18 years old and have been playing since I was 5 years old. So I'll tell some things. In first place you should try and find the best music school in your area of habitation. Search, ask around and try and find the one with the best piano and music theory teachers. In this case you should really just follow up your teachers teachings. But, if you want to just learn by yourself, i can advise you to first, for example, try playing some chords and accompanying musics you like. You will find some great chords for songs here:   www.cifras.com.br (it's a brazilian site, but i guess you can translate it through google ;) )

Then you can start taking some more advanced tunes from midis, for example. For this, I advise you to use the program "Van Basco Karaoke Player" which is a midi player that shows you the Notes on a "virtual real time piano keyboard". You can find this here:  www.vanbasco.com .

Next step would be maybe to start learning the notes, and to read sheets, if you do not know that already. Just surf the web for some music theory sites and you'll be able to start learning sheets pretty soon. Then you can find sheets for about any music in this website: www.pianofiles.com

Final step:  after you get some good practice at all the above refered steps, you will start getting used to the sounds and notes you play and discover the beauty of playing things by ear.

At this point, you'll be a satisfied and satisfying piano player.. Just find some pubs or so with good environment and go there and challenge your self, and please others.

This last step takes some years of practice, and some hard work, but you'll find your way if you really like piano.

    Hope this is usefull :)

    Good luck with your evolution.

Any other doubt relating music I'll be pleased to be contacted directly
