Question:

New Macbook Pro freezes several times per day?

I have a new 2.5GHz 15 inch Macbook Pro, less than a week old, and it has recently started freezing, at first one program stops, then soon after all programs stop responding to the mouse, and I am left with a spinning ball which can only be repaired by a hard reboot.

Any suggestions on how to fix this, or what may be causing it?

  1. Macs suck. Not opinion look at the truth, It is based on the Unix core which is free and always will be. It costs about $800 to build and get a good ROI on a $1600 mac book.

That means they're MEANT to be overpriced.

    They're complete and utter c**p.

  2. sounds faulty.

Call Applecare right away, or find their AUTHORIZED repair place near you and bring it in.

If it's only a week old it will be on warranty for sure.

My guess is that you just got a lemon and they'll fix or replace it for free.

My dad has had an iMac for 5 years, my fiance for 3, and we've had macbooks for 1 year now.  None of us have had ANY significant problems or anything like that.

(Aside from the power surge that killed my dads first iMac, but house insurance covered that and data recovery on the first)

  3. go to the apple store and call apple and tell them and if its faulty they wil send you a new macbook free of charge if you have apple care

  4. You usually don't need a hard reboot (Windows term). Just go to the blue apple in the upper left corner and drag down to force quit. You can select the program you want to quit without restarting the MacBook. I'd suggest you run the disk utility program in the utilities folder, have it repair your permissions and then verify your hard disk. If it finds a problem, follow the directions on the page. I've only had to do a forced restart maybe once in the last two years on my MacBook and iMac. If you are still having problems, let Apple fix it.

  5. Check the bottom of the laptop when it is on.  If you feel an excessive amount of heat I would try a cooling pad to keep the ram cooled down so it doesn't overheat.
