I just bought a Maytag washer and it fills up with water fine, but it won't agitate or spin or anything after the water fills up. It just stops. Anyone know what could be wrong?

  1. Did you close the lid or are you trying to watch it work?

If the lid is closed after a few seconds from fill up it the next cycle should begin or the timer (dial) is defective.

  2. If you can push on the lid switch and it starts agitating you know it just needs an adjustment.  It is up to you whether you adjust it yourself or call for warranty work.  If it isn't the lid switch I would call for warranty work.

  3. Stro Bro you should here click when you open lid on your washer.  If you do not here click, the lid switch most likely need adjustment or has come loose.  This is easy DIY job but if is new call the store where you purchased they will repair  it free.

  4. new  =  warranty   Call the Maytag repairman he has been waiting years for your call!!

  5. most likely lid switch. when you open and shut the lid you should hear a click. thats the switch making contact. find where the top meets the cabinet theres to spring clamps on the front that hold the top to the cabinet. use a putty knife, push in, and lift up on the top. it should come up and you can see the guts of the machine. or...depending on the model....it could be in the front console back where the timer and other c**p is....

  6. ohm out the lid switch.  That is what is common with the two cycles for safety.  first push something to make sure is making good by the actuator on the lid.  if still not open the top and ohm out this switch.
