Question:

New Model to replace the Poincare Dodecahedral Space?

Since the 5-year WMAP data came out, it appears to be less likely that the Poincare Dodecahedral space is the shape of the universe, although not entirely ruled out. Has anyone heard of any proposed model that would replace it? I'm looking for a positively curved 3-D model that I would find in this paper: http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/gr-qc/pdf/0106/0106033v1.pdf

which has categorized the countable infinity of such models that exist.

  1. Well according to string theorist (aka Big Bang as well) Michio Kaku, the vision of the shape of the universe might be scewed by the sense of "Parallel Universes" or perhaps Multiverses.  Here Michio delivers an impeckable argument towards whether or not there may be other parallel universes amoungst our own.

  2. I had heard of the dodecahedral shape of the universe to exlain the finite and unbounded theory of the universe. I didn't realise we actually thought it was a perfect dodecahedron. I just thout it was chosen becuase it was close to a shere and its flat sides made it easier to imagine matching up with the opposite side of the universe. That is what you meant right?

Does that mean a finite and unbounded universe is unlikely or do we just need a better shape to represent it?

Sorry about answering you question with more questions but this is interesting and you probably know more about it than I do.

  3. ... you're asking the Yahoo! Answers community this? There's a lot of people here who still don't think we landed on the moon, or believe in the 2012 thing, or keep asking why the sky is blue and if aliens are real.

And you're posting your question here?

    XD  haha.
