Rossi Settles Tax Suit For $30 Million.

This just in from Soup : http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2008/Feb/080212a.htm

This might sound a little weird to say, but Im glad this has been sorted out.

Dont get me wrong, having to pay @ £65 million Sterling is a kick in the teeth, even for a top earler like Vale, but it now means his mind is on the job for 2008.

There is no doubt that this ( and the Ducati Teams 110 % effort push ) was a major fact in Vale doing " badly " [ read 3rd place ] last year.

Rossi cant spell third place!!

Will this give him the want / need to continue the 2008 season as he has been in testing ?

Bring on the first race!!

  1. It's gonna be a huge weight off his shoulders, and although it's a heck of a lot of money, he's not exactly going to be destitute. I'm sure he'll soon make it back again.

Now he can concentrate on racing, which he's gonna need to do, coz I reckon this year will be his toughest yet. I'm still not convinced that the switch to Bridgestone was the right move. I'm sure it won't be the miracle fix that he might have thought it was last year. I think he moaned too much about it, an basically backed himself into a corner. I hope I'm wrong and don't end up saying "I told you so". Just have to wait and see.

    Not long now.

  2. Good!  Maybe now Rossi will concentrate in racing at the top instead of complaining of tyres (he's got bridgestone's now -and in a very smart move, he got them only for himself, actually spltting the official yamaha team in two leaving Lorenzo with no access at all to his data..wise Doctor!)or taxes worries.

Peace of mind for the warrior that had the courage to leave the safety of the -once- almighty Honda HRC Team to prove himself capable of beating them in the same ground wit Yamaha, and what way to do it!

I admire Rossi although I am not his fan and I am happy that he lost the 06' title to a consistent Hayden and an overwhelming and the 07' to an underated Stoner.

Unfortunately aside from them and Pedrosa (smile once in a while for God's sake!) I do not see too many surprises except for a one-race brilliant performance by Elias, Melandri, De Puniet and so, and for sure Dovizioso, De Angelis, Lorenzo, and Toseland will throw a gauntlet as a warning for things to come.

    So be it!

    FISH

  3. He will have no excuses, this year a load of his mind and Bridgestone tyre's, it will be the year to take the championship for him

  4. Hi Wiggysan. I find it amusing too they needed to have a name plate for one of the most recognised faces on the planet.  If the tax issue is put to the back of his mind and the tyre issue is resolved in his mind. lets hope he can pull one over on Stoner atJerez (doubts though) then we can look forward to some nice fireworks through the 2008 season.

    All Good.

  5. 2007 was one of the worst years of Rossi, not only the bike problems but all those stuff about the tax and everything. I do not really believe he had to pay so much money! but yet, it is not me deciding.

You are 100% right that Rossi will start doing his thing again and for sure he won't let to end up 3rd! Lets hope that now, when there are less distractions, it will be a mind blowing season!
