I am new to NASCAR, and this is one of the things I need clarifying on. Thanks!

I hope to come into this section more. Baseball is my first, but I really like NASCAR, and I hear there are some good people here.

  1. Owner pts are what the owner of the team earns after each race.

You must be in the top 35 in owner's pts in order for your driver to have a guaranteed starting spot in each race.

Those who aren't qualify in what they call Go or Go Home drivers...those fastest can get in the race and those not go home and must pack up and head to the next track on the schedule.

  2. Owner points are the points a particular team or car number has.  Driver points are the points a driver has.  So in most cases the two are the same as drivers dont often miss or skip races, or change teams during the season.

  3. jr and stewart lover explained it to a tee.  A perfect example of how that works is the Gibbs racing team in the nationwide series.  Stewart/Busch/Hamlin all have won in that car and the owner will receive all the points for the car itself, although the drivers will each recv their individual points for winning.

  4. From NASCAR.com___"they earn points for merely attempting to make a race. If an owner shows up with two drivers and one fails to qualify, the owner still receives points for the non-qualifying effort."

  5. I think they already have you covered on your question but you have heard right there are some great people on here Nascar fans are some of the best ever! and you should come around this section more often we'd be glad to have ya!! =)

  6. owner points are points given to the owner of the car it doesnt matter who is driving that car as long as the car is in the race it gets points and they are for qualifying... these points are what determine the line-up during a rained-out qualifying... and you get them just like driver points except these are based on the car not the driver (you can have five drivers for one car, the car gets points every week but the the driver who is racing is getting the drivers points)... it really is confusing at least in the beginning, and owner points can be switched among cars in your team (so when junior came to hendricks he got the number 5's points) drivers points are connected to the driver

  7. Take Jack roush. He owns McMurray's car, Edwards' car, Kenseth's car, Biffle's car, and Ragan's car. If Edwards or Kenseth were to win the Championship, he'd win the Owner Points. (Jack Roush would)
