So Oklahoma City after trying and getting shut down has finally stolen an NBA franchise. I am no Sonic fan. But, the Seattle Super-Sonics are defunct and the Oklahoma City (Bison, Barons,Thunder, Wind, Marshalls, Energy) era is on its way headed by Kevin Durant. I was open to the OKC Bombings after the famous bombings that toom place there but oh well.
If they are called the Bison the color of the jerseys should be brown (away) with baige and white trimmings. While the home jersey should be white with brown and baige trimmings. Anyway OKC is a small market and too bad the Seattle NBA franchise that has had HOF in Payton, Wilkins, and Allen and have 1 ring play for them would never be seen again. Seattle is a big market and will be missed.
Which is why I propose why not let the city take back its name, uniforms, and history and let the OKC team keep its team and the ex Seattle players. Kind of what the Bobcats did an expansion team and why not let cities like Las Vegas who have expressed their desire 2 have an NBA franchise not get one they can be called the Las Vegas Sinners (Black and Purple jerseys).
Because these teams are both situated in the West the NBA should move the New Orleans Hornets to the Eastern Conference Southeast division since it shares a border w/ Alabama (Southeast). Then you would have to add an expansion team to the Atlantic, Central, Southwest, and Pacific divisions 2 give each division 6 teams = an even total of 36 teams.
(Eastern Conf.)
Atlantic - Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey
* Pick a state/city/team name
Central - Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Milwaukee, Indiana
* Pick a state/city/team name
Southeast - New Orleans,Orlando, Washington, Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte
(Western Conf.)
Northwest - Utah, Denver, Minnesota, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City
Southwest - San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, *pick a state/city/team name
Pacific - Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Seattle Sonics, * Pick a state/city/team name
Feel free to come up with any names fro the new teams and there you go Seattle and OKC are happy and the 36 teams would be even and keep the playoff scenerio the same at 8. It would be better because almost more teams playoffs than miss it so a team with a losing record would likely be in (not good). With 36 teams 16 teams are in and 20 teams are out. As opposed to the 30 teams we have now as 16 are in 14 are out.
What do you think abou this idea. It can be done as well since Stern always talks about broadening the NBA and the US and the world have so many millionaires that can easily buy a franchise and its max contract in players.
