New & Old D&D Players...4th Ed.?

Question

So my good buddy sent me copies of the 3 new core books & I'm looking em over right now.

Not sure I'm liking what I see so far. (I started wayyy back w/ 1st ed. AD&D & now occasionally game w/ 3.5)

What's your gut reaction to it?

I love the game, but I've never been Dungeon Master.

I just roll the dice and play my character and respond to what I'm told happened.

I'm also an old-time (started in '75). Like all of the editions before it, there's pros and cons but overall I'm liking what I've seen. (However, only had the chance to play one of the intros so far, so no idea how well the system will ramp up at higher levels.)

Okay I feel terrible for just wleaving the letter h, so I'm gonna tell you I honestly know nothing about it.  But this guy I know is suppose to teach me everything I need to know soon.
