David West's sizzling performance helped New Orleans Hornets take down Charlotte Bobcats at New Orleans Arena 89–73. The announced attendance was 10,866 marking the Hornets’ sixth straight home crowd of less than 15,000.

David West led four Hornets' players in double figures with a team-high 22 points and 6 rebounds. Emeka Okafor had 14 points and 13 rebounds while Chris Paul dished out 14 assists for Hornets.
Gerald Wallace posted 18 points for Bobcats in the loss. Boris Diaw and D.J. Augustin each added 13 points and Tyrus Thomas had 10 assists for Charlotte.
First Quarter:
Hornets did not play well offensively in the first quarter but still found a way to build their lead, taking 28-24 into the second.

Second Quarter:
Bobcats fought hard to make their score a respectable one, by limiting the Hornets to just 15 points in the second quarter. Hawks were 43–42 at half time.

Third Quarter:
Bobcats cut Hornets' lead to 63-62 on a jump shot by Thomas with 00:27 left to go but Point Guard Chris Paul erased most of the doubt by nailing his jump shot to establish a 3-point cushion, heading into fourth.
Fourth Quarter:
The game was tight until the final minutes. Bobcats were as close as 71-69 when Kwame Brown hit a 15-foot jumper with 9:05 to go. Hornets tackled smartly, scoring the next five points as they began to pull away till the final buzzer of the game.

"We just wanted to put together a complete game. We'd been giving up what coach said something like 25 or 28 points per game in the fourth quarter. We wanted to lock down and maybe we sacrifice some offense. We had to get them under control in the fourth
quarter on defence," said West after the game.
