New Orleans Hornets Update: Chris Paul joins the practice session despite injury
High-spirited New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul showed his fighting abilities and determination to play when he returned to practice this Thursday.
Although it was being said that he would miss practice and would be out of action for quite some time, he returned to court on Thursday, to the surprise of many. Paul, one of the most skilled youngsters in the Hornets, raised the team from the dead and single-handedly
put them on the road to success.
An Olympic gold medallist, Paul did not speak to reporters after his practice session, but his teammates said that they were very pleased with his return.
Hornets guard Jarrett Jack said, “It was good to see him out here getting some shots up. We knew it was a matter of time. We all knew how tough he is, the injuries he has battled through over the course of his career. We knew this was not going to keep him
out too long. He was actually trying to play yesterday, but they would not let him out there just for precautionary reasons.”
The New Orleans star, Paul, was maltreated in a 96-81 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night at Quicken Loans Arena. The ball slipped out of his hands in the third quarter while getting to the rim. However, he attempted to regain the ball, but
couldn’t and unluckily Cavaliers’ shooting-guard Ramon Sessions accidentally hit him on the forehead. Paul was taken to the locker room by medical personnel.
On his way to the locker room, he received MVP chants and in return he flashed a ‘thumbs up’ to the cheering fans. Prior to his injury, he had 13 points and 11 assists in the victory.
Paul’s absence in the previous two games of the season puts New Orleans in a tight spot, as he is the second leading scorer for them. He is averaging 15.9 points and leads the team with 9.6 assists during this season.
Paul’s being able to practice is a good sign for the team, but he has not been cleared for the next game against the Sacramento Kings due to the uncertain nature of his injury. The team and the fans, though, are desperate to see him grasp the court as the
Hornets make their march towards the play-offs.
