New Orleans Saints newest draft pick WR Nick Toon excited to play with QB Drew Brees - NFL News
The New Orleans Saints brought in wide receiver, Nick Toon in the fourth round of the 2012 Drafts and the newest addition to the Saints roster is greatly excited at the prospect of playing with quarterback, Drew Brees.
Toon the son of former New York Jets great, Al Toon became the 122nd overall pick in the drafts and was the second pick by the New Orleans Saints after they first brought in defensive tackle, Akiem Hicks in the third round.
Speaking in an interview with the Saints official website, the young wide receiver could not contain his excitement at arriving at the Big Easy.
"Coming in to this process, you really don't have a great idea of what is going to happen. I am looking forward to coming down there and helping the Saints out. I am just really excited to be a part of the organization."
The youngster was also asked about his feelings of playing with Saints legend, Drew Brees in the new 2012-13 season.
"Not at all. Drew Brees is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. I am looking forward to going out there and catching passes from him and helping the Saints in any way that I can."
Adding further he said.
“He is a pro-bowl caliber player. He is one of the premier passers in the league... He is a great person on and off the field."
The Saints did not have any draft picks in the first two rounds this year.
They had traded this year’s first round pick to the New England Patriots last year and are banned from picking in the second round of the drafts for two seasons as part of the punishment for running an illegal bounty program in their defensive unit.
The wide receiver has been likely brought in as a replacement for Robert Meachem who left the franchise this year in the free agency.
Toon will be compared with his father from the moment he takes to the field but the young wide receiver is not perturbed by that since he has faced similar comparisons during his time at Wisconsin University where his father had previously played.
He will be a great addition to the Saints in the coming season.
