New Orleans Saints players believe Aaron Kromer will be up to the mark as a head coach – NFL News
As offensive line coach of New Orleans Saints Aaron Kromer has been named the head coach, many analysts have argued whether he will be able to absorb the pressure of the new job.
On the other hand, Saints’ players are giving thumbs up to their new head coach. They think that Kromer has the patience and the eye to be successful in his current job. Offensive lineman Zach Strief said:
"He's certainly a very calm sideline presence on game day, which players love. The last thing you want, when you're in the heat of it and you're trying to do as well as you can, is to have someone come and tell you, you didn't.”
Saints will start the season with Kromer leading the way. He will remain the head coach till the assistant head coach Joe Vitt finishes his six-week suspension for involvement in the Bounty-Gate scandal.
Since Vitt’s suspension, rumours were doing the rounds that Kromer was the prime candidate to take the job.
Kromer has been previously interviewed by Indianapolis Colts and St. Louis Rams for the head coach job during the last offseason.
Although Vitt’s suspension will not start until the start of the season, Kromer will lead the side in the rest of the preseason games in order to get himself comfortable with the position of such magnitude.
It will not be until Week 8 that Vitt will return to the field as a head coach. Kromer was not the only candidate to take the head coaching job. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr., new defensive and coordinator Steve Spagnuolo were also the contenders
for the job.
Kromer himself is hoping that rest of the coaching staff will work together as a team under him to get better results out the squad they have. Kromer said:
"I'm going to hold this thing over until Joe Vitt gets back. I'm going to hold the fort. It's going to be very important in this situation that it's a group effort, that Steve Spagnuolo, Pete Carmichael and (special teams coordinator) Greg McMahon feel like
we come to every conclusion as a group.”
