New Orleans Saints prepare to host Detroit Lions at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome—NFL Week 13 Preview
The National Football Conference South division leader-board, New Orleans Saints, will host the second-ranked team of the NFC North division, Detroit Lions, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in the week 13 game of the National Football
League current season on Sunday.
Last week, Saints convincingly beat New York Giants 49-24 to take their winning streak to three. They do not want to stop and as long as quarterback Drew Brees is going well, Saints have nothing to worry about.
In the 11 games he has played in the season, Brees completed 323 passes of 460 attempts for 3,689 yards. He has also recorded 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Saints have got a strong offensive line. They average 32.9 points per game which is second in the league. They are leading the league in terms of passing and rushing yards with a respective average of 324.2 and 449.6 yards per
game.
The NFC South division is witnessing a strong competition between Saints (8-3) and Atlanta Falcons (7-4). Bress wants his team to work hard and perform well in the next games to ensure that they top the division and enter the playoffs.
"We can always get better. There's always something to prove. The challenges only get greater as you move through the season," Brees said. "We got Detroit coming to town, on a short week, so we're going to have to get ourselves
back on track out here pretty quick and ready for that game."
Detroit Lions, unlike Saints, are entering the game with a burden of a humiliating loss at the hands of the undefeated Green Bay Packers last week.
Adding to the misery, their defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was ejected after involving in rough play with one of the Giants defender. Following the game, the league suspended him for two games without pay, and he will not be able
to play against Saints.
Lions coach Jim Schwartz is certainly disappointed not to have Suh in the side, but thinks that no one is above the law. He also said that such incidents put the team in bad position, which not only affects the overall performance,
but threatens its future prospects.
"Obviously, it hurts to lose any player for two games much less a player like Ndamukong Suh," he said. "But there's accountability for our actions and that's a situation where something happened after the whistle.”
Nick Fairley is expected to replace Suh on Sunday.
