New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees frustrated with never ending bounty scandal - NFL News
The New Orleans Saints have had one of their worst starts to the season this year.
Struggling with the bounty scandal that still overshadows everything the team delivers on the field, New Orleans have struggled in games with their poor defence culpable for most defeats.
Starting off the current season with four consecutive defeats, the Saints finally managed to end their losing run with two victories over the San Diego Chargers and division rivals Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
However, this momentum too shattered almost immediately after the team received a sound beating by the Peyton Manning led Denver Broncos in week eight.
On Monday, New Orleans face the Philadelphia Eagles as they look to put behind the shadows from their start to the season and begin the second half on a positive note.
Its not going to be easy though, as the Saints boasts the worst defensive unit in the league while distractions from the bounty scandal continue to remain.
According to the official Philadelphia Eagles website, Saints quarterback Drew Brees said that the only questions he gets asked these days are related to the bounty scandal and the subsequent punishments handed down by commissioner, Roger Goodell.
The quarterback expressed his frustration with the whole saga and said:
"The only questions people want to ask are 'What’s it like not having (Saints head coach Sean Payton) here?' and 'What’s it like with the whole bounty thing?'. It seems like a never-ending saga."
If the first half of the season was tough for Brees and the Saints the quarterback is expecting even more difficulties in the final eight games.
He said:
"Every week is such a challenge. Every team is good, and you have to go out do the grind and play your best each week if you expect to win. So you’re going to have stretches where you win a few; you might have stretches where you lose a few ... Now, more
so than ever, now that we’re 2-5, we can’t look past anybody. We can’t look further down the road than just the next game; the one that’s right in front of us."
The Philadelphia Eagles are a tough opponent and the Saints will be hoping to regain some confidence with a big win.
