New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles recovers from hand injury –NFL News
New Orleans Saints’ running back Darren Sproles has recovered from his left hand injury and participated in practice session on Wednesday.
Sproles got injured during Week 8 game against Denver Broncos. He went through a surgery and now he is feeling good.
He is an aggressive athlete. He is better at passing play than running plays. On the field, he is a threat to the opponents.
Saints’ assistant head coach Joe Vitt said after the practice session:
"He caught the ball well. He ran great. I was very encouraged with his work today."
He added:
“We're going to activate whoever gives us the best chance to win. Opponent that we're playing, the fronts that we're seeing, the potential weather we're playing in, those things help us make a decision on a week to week basis on who will play in the game.''
The trainers and coaches have seen Sproles playing and now they will decide his status for Week 11 game against Oakland Raiders.
Chris Ivory got the chance to play in absence of Sproles in last two games, against Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.
Ivory sat out in the first seven games, but now as he is playing good, it would be difficult for coaches to put him aside.
He scored two touchdowns and carried the ball 17 times for 120 yards. On the other hand, Sproles has carried ball 26 times for 117 yards in seven games this season.
According to the Associated Press, when Ivory was asked about the coach’s thought of benching him again, he said:
“I think as long as I'm doing the right things and get a plus on the plays that I get, I think that just helps me out and allows them to give that much more trust in me.”
Saints have won four and lost five games this season and they are ranked 3rd in National Football Conference (NFC) South.
After the return of general manager Mickey Loomis from his eight-game suspension, Saints have got a boost in their performance level and won two straight games.
