New Orleans Hornets make a sign and trade deal for Ryan Anderson – NBA Update
After being stuck in the lower half of NBA rankings for the past couple of seasons, New Orleans Hornets are looking to completely re-structure their organization.
They acquired Anthony Davis as the number one draft pick on June 28th along with Austin Rivers with their number 10th selection, and are also expected to match Phoenix Suns offer on Eric Gordon, the man who
they envision as the face of the franchise in the coming years.
Now according to recent speculations, they are looking to materialize a deal for the most improved player in the NBA, Ryan Anderson. The Hornets want a sign trade deal for Anderson and in return would send the young center Gustavo
Ayon to the Magic.
Even though Anderson is restricted free agent this year, however with the Magic management intent on matching any offer made for him, the deal has gone at a much faster pace.
Through the deal, Anderson would be looking at a contract worth $34-$36million for four years and will have a chance to play alongside two of the most exciting prospects to be drafted this year.
By getting Anderson to adorn their colours, the New Orleans franchise will be taking a big step ahead, one in which they can become genuine championship contenders
Even though the official announcement of the deal is yet to be made and cannot be done until NBA`s moratorium period on new business comes to an end on July 11th, but there is a high probability that Anderson will be
starting his 5th year in the NBA by wearing the Hornets colours.
The sharp shooter was a key part of the Magic team which made it all the way to the first round of the playoffs before, eventually going out in 5 games against the Indiana Pacers. He held an average of 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds
in the 61 games he played last season.
On the paper it seems that the Magic will lose one of their most valuable remaining assets, but it is also a clear indicator that they are looking to move past the Dwight Howard era. Ayon is a young centre, who averaged 5.9 points
and 4.9 points in the 24 games he played in his rookie season for the Hornets. His addition is just a step forward in the rebuilding process at Orlando.
