New PCB chairman Chaudhary Zaka Ashraf, seeks help from former Pakistani players – Cricket News Update
To get a feel of his new job, the newly-appointed Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf, has started contacting former Pakistan Test cricketers.
Ashraf was given the crucial responsibility by the Patron-In-Chief, President Asif Ali Zardari, following the completion of ex-chief, Ijaz Butt’s tenure on October 8, 2011.
The new PCB boss, who heads a state owned bank (ZBTL), has taken the charge at a very important time in the Pakistan cricket. While the Spot-Fixing trial of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-Butt-c2418 is going on in London, the controversy of former skipper,
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, is yet to be solved.
Furthermore, the resumption of International cricket in Pakistan is a huge point of concern for cricket administration in the country.
Since Ashraf does not have any notable experience of handling cricket affairs, he will need a lot of suggestions and advice from the cricket pundits in the country.
According to an official source, the new chairman contacted former Test cricketers, Basit Ali and Masood Anwar, and asked them to help him run the affairs properly.
"He apparently spoke to former Test batsman Basit Ali and some other players including former Pakistan spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 was initially reluctant
to accept the PCB Chairman post," the source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, the source revealed that Afridi now has decent chances to make a comeback to the national setup since the new chairman is keen to sort things out with the former skipper.
The flamboyant all-rounder announced his retirement from International cricket after being sacked by Butt, who took serious action against the former captain following his media outburst against the coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 and PCB.
"The right time appears to have come for Afridi, who had little chance of playing for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 until Butt was Chairman because of the deep differences between them over several issues," added the source.
