Paris Saint-Germain made one of the biggest splashes in this summer’s transfer window when they sign Argentine sensation Javier Pastore from Italian Serie A side Palermo.
Les Parisiens reportedly paid Palermo 42 million Euros for the signature of the highly-rated midfielder who had been in phenomenal form for Palermo in the 2010/2011 Serie A season. In the coming hours, Pastore will be signing a five-year deal with the capital
club.
Initially it was thought that English Premier League giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Huracán-c39548 man. However, all this changed when PSG started showing serious interest in the midfield maestro.
The capture of Pastore was definitely a big blow that PSG dealt to other clubs who were interested in the Argentine international. With Pastore now becoming the biggest transfer in the history of Ligue 1, a lot can be expected from the 22-year-old.
Though many people have criticised Pastore for taking a ‘backward’ step by joining Ligue 1 rather than going for a more posh English Premier League or the La Liga, the youngster believes that he made the right choice in order to further develop his career.
While talking to the media, Pastore said, “I know I’m not playing in a league as important as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 but it is a league that will bring a lot to me as a person and will help me progress.”
Finally it was a choice between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea and Pastore opted for the Parisian club that was offering him a better perspective of his future and was putting faith in him by making him a part of one of Europe’s most exciting football projects.
“If I had gone to Chelsea or another big club, I would necessarily not be getting a lot of playing time. In Paris, I think that I would have much more playing time,” Pastore said. At that price, there is indeed little or no chance to see coach Antoine Kombouare
drop him to the bench.
However, the PSG faithful will have to wait to see the club’s marquee signing play this season. According to Antoine Kombouare, Pastore will start training on Saturday with the rest of the squad and would make his debut in early September.
Today, Les Parisiens will play against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153 in their first Ligue 1 encounter of the 2011/2012 campaign at the Parc des Princes. A packed house is expected and the fans of PSG would be hoping to see EL Flaco in the stands watching his new team play
