Can I still walk across to Mexico to shop without a passport?

I am not talking about flying to Mexico City.

BUT YOU CAN'T FLY..........

PASSPORT RULE ONLY APPLIES IF YOU ARE BOARDING A PLANE...........

I haven't walked the border into Mexico in years but I'm pretty sure that you need a passport these days.  You won't have trouble leaving but you will have difficulty getting back without a passport.

Go to webpage below that has the NEW announcement. You MUST have a passport to FLY.  You do NOT need a passport to travel to and from Mexico by LAND until summer of 2008.
