Question:

New Pioneer deck not working?

I bought a new Pioneer DEH-P3000IB and hooked everything up. I followed all the instructions and double checked all of my connections. After I plugged it in, re-connected the batters and turned the car on nothing happened, I checked all the fuses and know it is hooked up right. I have no sound or display or backlight. The only thing I get is a beeping from the head unit about every minute or so. What does the beeping mean? What do I need to do?

  1. my guess will be the ACC / IGN wire is not hooked properly.

some cars, like a few jettas, require the installer to run the ACC / IGN wire separately because the wiring harness does not provide a slot for it, or a working slot. this means, the installer will have to tap into the ignition fuse in the fuse box.

contrary to the other post, the stereo does have good ground because you are getting a "beep" from the stereo. if it had no ground, there would be no beep.

  2. I'm guessing you think you hooked everything correct but didn't.  Are you sure all the wires you spliced into the harness are correct?  Is it grounded correctly?

  3. Sounds like your security system is interfering with your car radio. Some security systems run through your car stero. Without it, it will start up and beep constantly. Try running your old deck to your new one. Install it under the seat or pay acouple hundred bucks for a real harness. You have a CHEVY huh?
