New Playstation 4 Console: On Its Way?

Did you also think that Playstation 3 is the final one of the playstation family? Maybe you were wrong!

Sony has apparently decided to continue their R&D on the Playstation console family. One of the signs is the forming of another team of experts, whose members were also the creators of the previous game consoles.

Could we be seeing the new Playstation 4 console in stores soon? Sony seems to have overcome the financial troubles of its past, and things seems to be going well with Playstation 3. So why shouldn’t they just go ahead and make it?

Some preliminary info states: the new console will be backward compatible with PS3, PS2, PS1, and even with PSP. This will be welcome by many owners of the previous models, those who would like to have another try with all their favorite games.

The project could of course have some drawbacks already built into it of course. One example is the high-end price of the Playstation product, games and accessories. The problem with system overheating, hopefully will be solved in the near future.

PS 4 will be much more compact than its predecessor, and will support all widely used multimedia formats, offer good internet connectivity, and of course we hope some excellent graphic capabilities.

Hopepully, Sony will give us soon an exciting new generation video game console.

sony said themselfs that ps3 is the system of the future for probably the next ten years, dont expect a ps4 within at least 5 years

Of course they are working on it. Console manufacturers start working on a new console within week of launching the one before it. That's just standard practice.

The PS3 is not significantly future-proofed, so it won't be Sony's best system for 10 years, like everyone is letting Sony mislead them into thinking. Computing power for the same price doubles every 18 months. So if MS releases a new XBox in 2010, they can make it about 4 times as powerful as the 360 without raising the price from where the 360 launched. You don't think something 4 times as powerful as the 360 would blow the PS3 out of the water?

I heard a confirmation that there will be a PS4, but when watching the E3 conference they said that they have a 10 year plan with the PS3, so don't expect it until at least 2015

No, The PS3 is future proof and will last until 2014, where they will release a new console that will support the new High defenition format that will be out.

no, half of those are fake. sony is making so much money on ps3, that they will not be nedding to make another console for about 4 more years. and it probably will take about 6 years to make, so dont be expecting it anytime soon

No way, no chance, no how. You will not see a new Playstation Console (in NA anyway) before 2014. What is the point? The PS3 has only been out 2 years, and obviously Sony has invested allot in it. Does not make sense for them to scrap it. Besides, Sony has the best Platform, and the only one that is Futureproof.

most developers haven't even been able to get the most out of the ps3's capabilities and it will take around 2 years more for them to really do so, so why would sony scrap the ps3 all of a sudden. It has a 10 year life span, which means it will come out around 2015, a long long way off, so don't fret, its all just rumors.....
