New Sharks coach, how excited are the Teal fans?

So the Sharks have hired Todd McLellean as their new coach. What do you knuckleheaded Shark lovers think of the hiring?

As a Red Wings fan I hate to see him go. He was an excellent assistant coach, part of the Babcock coaching machine, and will be missed.

Quick Background info: ***. Coach for Babcock in Detroit the last three years, I think before that over for the Ducks as well. Has head coached on several different levels (IHL, WHL, AHL, ect(HL)) with great success.

So do the Sharks get over the hump or are they still not addressing their leadership issue. Personally I still think they should axe Thornton for some prospects.

  1. I'm not a Sharks fan, but a Wings fan.

I really do hope San Jose is crazy happy with him being their new head coach. I hate to see him go, he was a great person and assisstant coach. This does kinda suck for us. I don't think we will be able to find a better assisstant than Todd right now.

  2. I'm a Wings fan, and was curious to see who the Sharks would take on as head coach.

I hate to see McLellan go, but will follow how he and the team do in the next few seasons.  He definitely deserves to get a head coaching job, having had so much success in his career to date.

Hoping it goes well for them all - could be he'll draw out all that talent and have it blossom a bit in the post season.

  3. I'm all for it.  Out of the coaches available, with the exception of Pat Burns, he was my choice.  I didn't think Q, Torts, Dineen, or DeBoer were right for SJ.  He brings his knowledge and championship mentality to a Shark team that seems physically capable of winning the championship, just not mentally.  I see him pushing all the right buttons necessary to help get us over the hump now.  Good job, yet again Doug Wilson!  Now to expect the Brian Campbell signing in the next week or so!

  4. Very Excited. My team is the sharks we might win a cup now GO SHARKS!!!

  5. IT is nice to see someone who was not a retread.  However, with a first time NHL coach, it could go either way.  I am sure he will do fine considering that the Sharks have a pretty talented roster.  Now the question is will he be able to get Thornton to produce in the playoffs like he does on the regular season.

  6. im pretty exciting. hopefully its going to work out for the sharks.
