Solid half-tons from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Hartley-c1243, followed by Cameron Gannon’s 5-for, sealed the deal for the Queensland Bulls as they went on to claim a 30-run win over the New South Wales Blues in the 15th match of the ongoing Ryobi One-Day
Cup, played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on December 2.
The Blues put Queensland to bat first after winning the toss, but the Bulls found themselves equal to the challenge, and held off the assaults of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Moises-Henriques-c2021 (13-1-67-3) long enough to post a total of 292 at the expense of 6 wickets.
Openers Khawaja (85) and Player of the Match Hartley (87) teamed up for a 154-run partnership which set a solid base for their team. The 30th over saw Khawaja run out by Henriques, but Hartley continued to drive the innings forward, establishing
a 57-run second wicket partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Cutting-c1132 (39).
Cutting was eventually caught out by NSW skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Reardon-c2071 (0) both made their exits, snapped up by Henriques who completed his 3-wicket haul.
Wicketkeeper skipper Hartley was eventually dislodged, stumped by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Neser-c1960 (12*)
got their team up to a final total of 292.
The Bulls’ bowling attack, in comparison to their opponents’, was far more incisive – Gannon (11.2-0-38-5) led the charge, and was supported by Cutting (8-2-41-2) and Neser (11-0-66-2) in keeping the Blues’ batsmen under control. Most of the batsmen succumbed
to the Bulls’ assaults, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scott-O-Henry-c89046 (65) were the ones that got away.
Henriques (22) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joshua-K-Lalor-c69521 (26) were the only other batsmen who managed to pass the 20-run mark, while the rest failed to apply themselves at the crease. The handful of substantial contributions did not prove enough to guide the team through the chase,
and within 48 overs, the New South Wales Blues were all out at 262, with the Bulls going on to secure a comfortable 30-run victory.
