New South Wales v Queensland – Sheffield Shield, 2012/13 (17th Match) – Match Update – NSW win by 3 wickets
Impressive performances from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 to posting a final target of 98, which the Blues’ batsmen managed to chase down successfully, securing a 3-wicket win over the Bulls in their recently-concluded
Sheffield Shield match, played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra from November 27 to 30.
The Bulls kicked off the match by winning the toss and choosing to bat first. However, they were unable to make much of an impression during their first innings, managing a doable final total of 243, courtesy http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Reardon-c2071 (71) and wicketkeeper skipper
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Zampa-c41966 (9-2-30-2).
New South Wales’ first innings, in comparison, was a much more solid affair, and featured steady contributions from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/NM-Hauritz-c2122 (23-3-71-2)
all made considerable attempts to keep the Blues’ batsmen in check, but New South Wales were ultimately able to post a first innings total of 319, after which they decided to declare.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-Boyce-c1213 (21*) –
were allowed to proceed beyond single-digit scores. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 remained unremarkable, and only managed to score 8 runs, while Reardon (5) and Hartley (3) failed to shine this time around. Within 73 overs, the Bulls were bowled for 173, setting the Blues
a 98-run target.
The chase should not have posed too much of a problem, but Cutting (12.3-4-30-4) made fierce attempts to defend his team’s total, and was joined in the attempt by Boyce and Gannon, both of whom claimed one scalp each. However, small contributions from Scott
Henry (13), Steven Smith (22), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abbott-c41507 (10*) proved sufficient, and ensured that the Blues eventually reached 98, within 38 overs and with 3 wickets to spare.
