New South Wales v Victoria – Sheffield Shield (14th Match) – Match Update [Day 1]
Victoria’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 batting order, but an unbeaten century from wicketkeeper batsman Brad Haddin allowed the Blues to make their way up to a total of 293 before they were all out on day one of their ongoing
Sheffield Shield match, played at the Sydney Cricket Ground today on November 13.
The Blues won the toss and chose to bat first – however, throughout their time at the crease, the team found themselves severely troubled by the Bushrangers’ Jayde Herrick (21-4-72-3), Louis Cameron (19-2-61-3), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Maxwell-c60189
(6-1-12-2).
New South Wales’ top-order batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scott-O-Henry-c89046 scored a solid 78, which
included 14 boundaries, and was joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SPD-Smith-c2555 (30) for a 69-run stand for the 3rd wicket.
The partnership came to an end in the 31st over, with the dismissal of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Nevill-c2180 (12) followed suit soon afterwards in the 39th over, also falling prey to Herrick. However, wicketkeeper batsman
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170 steadied the innings in a major way with his as yet unbeaten 108.
Henry was eventually dislodged by Hastings, but Haddin kept the innings moving forward with a 57-run stand with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Moises-Henriques-c2021 (20), and after the latter’s dismissal at the hands of Hastings, moved on to set up a 49-run partnership for the 7th
wicket with skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harold-William-Stephenson-c61707 O'Keefe (9).
Their combined efforts got New South Wales up to 242, after which the captain was caught out by his Victoria counterpart Cameron White off Maxwell, who also caught and bowled http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392 on duck in the very same over. Haddin, meanwhile, anchored the innings
and drove it forward – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Josh-Reginald-Hazlewood-c69504 chipped in with an individual score of 21, and Haddin teamed up with him for a 34-run 9th-wicket stand.
Herrick eventually took Hazlewood out of the game, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DE-Bollinger-c1348, who followed him to the crease, only managed a 1-run contribution before Cameron snapped him up as his final victim of the day. The Blues finished all out at 293.
The Bushrangers stepped up to commence their innings, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-Carters-c2386 (8*) at the crease, but they had only managed to reach 12 for 0 before play came to an end for the day, leaving Victoria trailing by 281 runs, with 10 wickets remaining.
